## How to connect an Electrum wallet to Umbrel-ElectrumRS
I am running an ElectrumRS server as part of my personal Umbrel node, so it
doesn't make much sense to keep my electrum wallets connected to random
electrum servers of the internet that could be spying on me, right?
These are the instructions on how to connect through the Android app. I'll try
that first:
The following are the instructions Here's how to connect Electrum Wallet (
Android) to your Umbrel
Download Orbot on your phone.
Open Orbot, tap the gear icon under "Tor-Enabled apps" and add Electrum Wallet.
Tap "STOP", restart Orbot and turn on "VPN Mode".
Start Tor by tapping the big onion icon.
Open Electrum Wallet, tap the settings icon and select "Network".
Set "Auto-connect" to OFF.
Set the "Server" setting to ***************
Congratulations! You have successfully connected Electrum Wallet to your Umbrel.
Unable to connect to Electrum Wallet (Android)? If Bitcoin Core has only
recently finished syncing, please try connecting again in ~24 hours.
Since I am a stupid user, I'm going to try it out even if the required 24 hours
have not passed. Damned users.
I followed the instructions and all went smoothly. I did an additional step:
activating the `One-server mode`, because I have kind of deduced that even if I
specified my own server, it was still connecting to others.
Now, to check that it works as intented, I'm going to do two things:
- Check live if my electrum app realises that a new block is coming in and
refreshes the number of confirmations in my last transaction live.
- It worked like a charm!
- Send a toy transaction from one of my wallets to one of the wallets I'm
watching in electrum to ensure it receives it live.
- It also worked like a charm1
Big success!
